What a great place to go to relax! The large lanai was well used morning through night. Whales put on quite a show every day and being right over the water is always wonderful. If condos are your thing, then you will love this place.
The property manger appeared to be non-existent, but we had no need for them anyway.
We have stayed at the Kona Makai for about 19 yrs now, each Christmas holiday season. We love the location, other guests that stay there. This last trip the dishwasher wasn't working, so we had to wash dishes by hand every day. This part was a bummer. Also, it would be helpful if property management could leave more than just the one initial trash bag for kitchen. Other than that, we love Kona Makai.
We had a great time at Kona Makai. Sitting on the lanai watching the ocean, overlooking the pool, seeing the snorkelers daily was a delight. Susan with Prince Properties was such a help getting us relocated from our original property which was not what we thought it would be. Overall, we had a great time at Kona Makai and I would go back in a NY minute!! The only negatives were dirty carpets and cheap, threadbare sheets but those are certainly easily remedied. The grounds were very well maintained, as well as the pool, cabana and public areas. Wonderful place.

This was a perfect property with beautiful ocean views. The tide pools in front were full of life and the location was near snorkel beach which was our favorite part of the trip.
The dishwasher did not clean the dishes very well which would explain the dirty dishes we found in the cupboards & drawers.
We stay at the Kona Makai every year and love it! It is a very magical place, and the same guests return each year. We love being so close to the water, watching dolphin and whales off the coast.
The location of this property and unit are absolutely the best, close to town but right on the ocean with a fabulous view from the wrap-around porch. We certainly enjoyed our stay and appreciate the hospitality of the property manager and the onsite office staff. Thanks, Brad!Mahalo!
We had a great time at Kona Makai Unit #6-201. The condo is beautiful - best in Kona Makai. Sorry the time went by so fast, but can't wait to go back!
My family and I absolutely loved staying at this condo! The condo had so many nice amenities and the views/sunsets were spectacular! We have already recommended the property to all of our friends and hope we can return sometime soon.
Wow the location of this property was fantastic! You look out from your room or Lanai right out to the ocean. The condo was spacious and fully equiped with everything one would need -- from a cooler, flash lights (for a volcano trip), an up to date guide book, wine opener, electronics, you name it. This is a can't miss location!
We arrived from Anchorage, Alaska and a very long winter. It was very late in the evening but we threw open the sliding glass door upon arrival and the sound of those waves were a precursor to what was to come! Condo was very clean and air conditioner worked perfectly. We awoke to a glorius day. Unfortunately we both came down with a horrible virus (probably on the planes) ...we spent most days in the lounge chairs feeling awful but loving the sound of the waves "massaging our brains." Being sick in Kona was still better than being well in cold Alaska! Brad Lusk at Prince Properties was very prompt at returning my questions pre-trip and everything was just perfect. The view from this wraparound balcony is nothing short of spectacular....add jumping whales right in front of the condo---it just could not have been nicer! Thank you to the owners for allowing us to share this piece of heaven!
I would recommend another place we stayed before this property. The kitchen was not well equipped at all. Not even simple things like a lime squeezer.
Loved the sound of the surf and viewing the sunsets, whales, dolphins during the day and excitement of high surf. Lovely accomodations.
Every Morning - I walked down one set of steps onto the lava shelf, slipped on my fins and snorkle and swam just below the unit! I would definately stay there again!!
